Ever since Malaysia ventured into the automobile industry, with the first production of its premier non-commercial vehicle, "Proton Saga" in the early 80's, the number of vehicles on the road started to increase tremendously. North South Highway, stretching the distance between Bukit Kayu Hitam and Johor Bahru was constructed to cater for a better transport infrastructure. And until today, many other highways has been or going to be constructed to ease traffic jam, caused by excessive number of vehicle on the road.
And at the same time, due to the enhanced condition of road, especially highways, or even trunk and federal road, the average travelling speed of each vehicle reaches up to 110 km/hour (standard max speed) or more. In addition, the numbers of heavy vehicle i.e. Container trailers, vehicle carrier and express buses have also increase greatly. Therefore, it is always crucial for each vehicle owner to ensure roadworthy condition so as to be safe while being driven even at safe speed to personal discretion.
Tip-top condition does only not imply the periodic change of engine lubrication oil and filter only, but others recommended inspection and replacement list construing to mileage covered by each vehicle manufacturer are equally important. Vehicle owners have the tendency to observed service and maintenance requirement within a specific vehicle manufacturer's warranty period only and thereafter neglect the same practice. If this is the majority characteristic of us, what consequences would it result to the vehicle's owner safety and other road users generally? Amongst the possible hazard that cannot be denied are accident contributed by component failure, system malfunction, breakdown, unnecessary overhaul, massive traffic jam and more.
As a summary, proper vehicle's inspection and maintenance schedule observation can contribute more than just safety on road!
